Hailing from Vadodara, Yastika Bhatia, renowned for her abilities as a wicketkeeper-batter is a rising star in Indian cricket. Yastika’s journey in cricket began to unfold when she earned her maiden call-up to the India women's cricket team in February 2021, for the limited overs matches against South Africa. Her impressive batting skills caught the attention of selectors, leading to her inclusion in India's squad for various formats, including Women's One Day Internationals (WODIs), Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), and Test matches.
As a part of the National Cricket Academy under 19 camp, Yastika showcased her wicketkeeping skills that earned her the title of Captain of the West Zone Women’s Cricket Team. It is an all-women team that represents West India in the Inter-Zone Women’s One-Day Competition and Inter-Zone Women’s Three-Day Competition.
Moreso, Yastika played a major role in Team Baroda’s ultimate victory in the West Zone under 19, a one-day tournament that was held in 2016. She had everyone on the edge of their seats as she single-handedly scored 230 runs.
Yastika’s left-handed batting style is characterized by a solid technique and an innate ability to build innings, earning her recognition at both domestic and international levels.
In September 2021, Yastika marked her Test debut for India against Australia, displaying her resilience and skill on the international stage. Her journey continued as she represented India in the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where she played a pivotal role in securing a silver medal for her nation.
Recognizing her potential and talent, the Mumbai Indians secured Yastika in the team for INR 1.50 Crore in the inaugural Women's Premier League auction, highlighting her value as a game-changer in the shortest format of the game.
